The arts are seen as something that elevates life in the city. The infusion of arts into the life of the city does more than add a cool factor, it is a vehicle for appreciating the diversity of the city and the ethos of justice and unity.
For a number of respondents, the arts are an essential part of what makes a thriving city.
A peaceful, harmonious, artsy town with tons of good food, music, and community events.
I hope for a city that continues to be more open, has an arts-inspired ethos, has a variety of affordable and competitive sports options for young people (and adults!), and continues to enhance its partnership with its colleges and universities.
There is a call to do more to support the arts:
I wish Greensboro cherished its arts community more - the arts can be a powerful influencer for human rights and love.
Fund the arts like P&R through the city for affordable programs, support summer programs like EMF & FF
A thriving area that supports local artisans and business owners through regularly organized community events.
The arts are seen as an expression of diversity:
"I want Greensboro to be more diverse, just like California! I want out people (Latinos) to be heard and have a voice, more murals based on us, more eloteros (people who sell corn on carts) on the street, more everything!"
I would love to see Greensboro continue to be an authentic community with a focus on the environment, art, and connections among people.
And ultimately the arts are seen as a factor that makes Greensboro collaborative, creative, and cool:
Breaking through walls, building bridges, finding ways to work together to make the story of Greensboro inclusive, creative and coolaborative
